Professor Arun Sharma
Queensland University of Technology
Professor Arun Sharma has been the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Commercialisation) at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) since June 2004. In this role, he has overseen one of the fastest growths in research trajectory of any university in Australia (more than three-fold increase in annual research funding and a two and half-fold increase in the number of PhD students graduating annually). This performance has helped QUT climb from 18th position to 9th nationally in research block grants, and to rapidly rise in global rankings – QUT is today ranked in the top 250 in both the Times Higher Education and QS rankings and has climbed more than 200 places in the Academic Ranking of World Universities over the past three years to be in the top 300.
Intercultural Innovator Award
Brett Lee is a former Australian international cricketer and fast bowler, who played and became a cult legend in all three formats of the game of cricket. Lee is recognized as delivering one of the fastest delivery of all time.
His record quickest delivery was 161.1 km/h (100.2 mph) in 2002. He is known for his consistency of pace, going over 150 kilometers per hour (93 mph) throughout his entire career. He is also widely regarded as one of the best pace bowlers ever to have played the sport. Brett finished his test cricket career with 310 wickets, and his One Day International career with 380 wickets.

Shivali leads one of the ABC's most successful products, ABC Education Learn English. The digital education platform has 4.4 million followers, making it the largest social media community of the ABC. Shivali's unique background as a journalist, educator and migrant have allowed her to bring her experience and expertise to the world through this platform. Born in India and raised in Singapore, Shivali is a champion of diversity and multiculturalism. She remains one of the few personalities of the ABC who comes from a South Asian background.

She was been conferred several awards including the Varnam Cultural Qld Community service award 2018, the Brisbane Women in Business Award for Community Dedication 2016 and the Lord Mayor’s Multicultural round table scholarship for 2017-2018. Further, she was placed within the Lord Mayor’s final 12 for the 2016 Mayoral Awards.
