The Northern Territory is a region of opportunity, it is the best place in Australia with over 100 nationalities calling the Territory home.  Our Indian-Australian community represents one of the largest multicultural communities across the Territory.

 

I am proud to acknowledge the strong relationship between the Northern Territory and India.  We are dynamic strategic partners that share universal values and strong ties of friendship. The Northern Territory has identified India as a priority partner in the Northern Territory International Engagement Strategy Plan 2022-2026, having existing developed markets in gas, mining, defence and maritime services, education and emerging export markets for critical minerals and ICT, digital technologies.

In October 2023, The Northern Territory's Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Northern Australia and Trade, the Hon Nicole Manison MLA, led a delegation to India to attract new investment in the NT's critical minerals and energy industries, grow two way trade opportunities and strengthen people to people relationships with India.

I congratulate the India Australia Business and Community Alliance (IABCA) for its continued leadership in strengthening relations between India and Australia and in recognising the contributions of leaders and businesses through the annual IABCA Awards.
