Hon Chris Minns MP, Premier of NSW

On behalf of the NSW Government, I express my sincere support for the India Australia Business and Community Alliance. For 10 years, the Alliance has provided an important platform, linking key agencies across trade and business, in both Australia and India. These links are especially important as our ties continue to deepen thanks to the growing number of people from India who choose to call Australia and NSW home.

The Indian diaspora is Australia’s fastest-growing community, and more than 750,000 Australians claim Indian ancestry. People who have built homes, undertaken study, started businesses, established places of worship, created new communities and become part of existing ones. People like my Treasurer, Daniel Mookhey, who earlier this year was the first Australian Minister to take an oath of allegiance using the Bhagavad Gita. A proud son of Indian migrants who represents the very best attributes of our state.

Here in NSW, we greatly value the many Indian residents and business owners who make up our community, and acknowledge the significant contributions they make across all aspects of our society. I am confident the already strong relationship between our countries will continue to flourish into the future.
